Nishant Malkani became a household name a few years ago, with shows like 'Miley Jab Hum Tum' and 'Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi'. However, he decided to take a break from television to pursue films. He put in his best, but things did not shape up the way he would have liked them to. Not one to give up, Nishant fought his way back into showbiz. In 2018, he returned to the small screen with 'Guddan- Tumse Na Ho Payega' and impressed the audiences.
Talking about his career choices, Nishant tells us, “It was a big decision. I was very young, around 22 years old. I had just tasted fame, and before I could learn to run, I wanted to fly. That was a little immature of me. But then, as they say, everything happens for a reason. I did a few films that did not work well, and some did not release. But then, these things happen when you do new projects or smaller films.”
That phase made him introspect and the actor decided to start life afresh. He says, “My experiences have taught me that failure is indeed the stepping stone to success. I faced a lot of rejection and that’s when I felt that maybe, I had taken things for granted. So, I left everything and went back to school. I studied acting for two years without picking up any project, and that’s where my journey changed. I realised that acting is just like any other art, and they all have techniques. Talent is a must, of course, but acting schools teach you how to feel various emotions, how to be real and tap into your own feelings. Immediately after I completed my course, I received an offer for 'Guddan…' I’m thankful to God and to the audience for placing me in the spotlight all over again.”
Was he disappointed when 'Guddan...' wrapped up a few weeks ago? “I was almost in tears when I first heard that it was going off air. It’s not the loss of work, but the loss of the whole experience, the attachment with the character and story. Also, I received the news during the lockdown, which was a difficult time for everyone. But then I told myself that it’s alright, it’s part of an actor’s journey,” the actor replies.
Now, there’s buzz that Nishant will be a part of '
Bigg Boss' this year. Ask him about it and he says, “There is absolutely nothing that I would like to say on this. I have heard a lot of rumours, too. All I will say is, time will reveal what’s in store from me for the audience.”
